Bishop Ricken’s homily for August 15
The Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, in Champion Wisconsin, marks the only apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the United States to be approved by the Catholic Church.
The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15th is the largest annual event at the Shrine. This year the Mass and procession was presided over by Bishop David Ricken, the same bishop who approved the apparition in 2010. Here is a recording of the powerful homily he preached at that Mass, with pictures of the event:

Thank you so much for sharing Bishop Ricken’s powerful, beautiful, and inspirational homily.I watched the video three times! The pictures depicting the solemn event were so excellently put together so much so that I felt I was in this celebration.Indeed, I was profoundly touched. Nostalgia dripping all over specially when I watched those young girls wearing white dresses carrying the Blessed Virgin Mary and those carrying baskets. This scenario brought back wonderful memories of the Flores de Mayo (flowers of May)in my homeland, the Philippines, where as young girls together with other girls our age wearing white dresses, my sister and I would bring baskets of flowers to offer to the Blessed Virgin Mary.It was a pleasant surprise to see Fr. Benjamin and great to see Fr. Peter S. again!Could hardly wait to visit the Shrine again this year, hopefully Fr. Jewel is around!
