October is the month of the Rosary. I have no idea why this is so, but it might be because, in the United States, October comes before election day.

This is Our Lady from the Basilica of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva in Rome. The Church was built on top of a pagan temple, a good reminder that Christianity triumphs over paganism.

In this statue, Mary is holding out the Rosary and asking you to pray a Rosary a day for the rest of October…although it does not have to be all 15 decades like she is holding.

    Hello, again, Father.
Spoke to you last night (early this morning for you)
Actually October 7 is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary and hereby the whole month has been proclaimed as the month of the Rosary. Here is an excellent website entry that explains it all. It was regarding the Battle of Lepanto and praying the Rosary that won this miraculous victory of this battle against the Turks.

I found out from Fr. Luke Ferris that October, the month of the Holy Rosary, was about the Holy Turk war wherein the Christians were being persecuted, which was not very clear to me. Thank you Bea for posting the website to thoroughly explain this. Now I know the rest of the story!!
