Three things happen during the Offertory: The money is collected, we bring up bread and wine, and we sit quietly. These three things express one idea: be Generous. All that we have comes from God; He has been so generous to us. We take ordinary things and give them back to God and they become Jesus Christ. In the same way the “stuff” of our lives, when offered to God, becomes something holy. Give God your stuff. (4 Dec 2012)
During this year of faith, I am going to try to do regular posts on some topics related to the faith.
Our Bible starts with the creation of the universe, which is actually where the universe starts too. Unfortunately, most Catholics ignore our amazing world and leave the talking about creation to the Protestants and [...]
Advent, 1st Sunday. Over Thanksgiving my brother thought he had plenty of time to pack, then he wasn’t ready in time. Jesus warns us in today’s Gospel that we need to stay ready for His coming: “Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise like a trap.” What if the so-called “Mayan Prophecy” is true and the world really does end on December 21, 2012? You have 19 days left. Or, what if your death comes even sooner? What do you need to change to be ready for Christ? Do you need to forgive someone, or make a good Confession? Christ is coming soon; start packing. (2 Dec 2012)
God made us and He loves us. How do we know this? God talked to people like Noah and Abraham. They wanted us to know about God too so they wrote it all down. It made a big book called the Holy Bible. Every Sunday we read from four parts of the Bible: A first reading from the Old Testament, a second reading from the Psalms, a reading from the New Testament, and an extra-special reading from the Gospel. They always have something in common. Why do we read the Bible at Mass? God wants us to think like he does; to see the world like He does. God asks for our minds. Why? Because He wants us to be happy and giving ourselves to God is the only way to true happiness. Give God your mind at Mass today. (4 Nov 2012)
Why do we go to Mass? We go to Mass because of Jesus. He came to Earth to tell us the Good News that we don’t have to worry. God is our Father and He will take care of us. Jesus taught us all about God and showed us by His miracles. Some bad men had Jesus killed. But on the third day He rose again! He appeared to His disciples every Sunday. Even though He ascended into heaven, He is still here with us. We come to Mass because Jesus is here, teaching and showing us every Sunday that we don’t have to worry: God is our Father and He will take care of us. (7 Oct 2012)

Therefore, keep the commandments of the LORD, your God, by walking in his ways and fearing him. For the LORD, your God, is bringing you into a good country, a land with streams of water, with springs and fountains welling up in the hills and valleys, a land of wheat and barley, [...]
